I am a contemporary seascape and landscape artist. Growing up on the south coast gave me a love of the sea which I cherrish and is a huge part of where I find energy, inspiration and also peace today.
Exploring our beautiful south coast via water and land is how I feed the narrative of my work. I frequently sketch on location gathering visual research to give me an idea of compositions of a scene to then develop when I am back in my studio as well as photos.
I create my original works of art through the family of screen print methods. The main technique I use is called mono-screen printing and it’s where I paint freehand directly through the mesh of a screen onto thick cotton or canvas. This allows me to be expressive while keeping the colour crisp and smooth so I can repeat the technique and as a last layer screen print my hang drawn line drawing to bring narrative of the scene together.

My work is know for the way I capture a scene from the excitement of racing yachts to the serenity a windless harbour. Being able to separate the hand drawn narrative and painted foreground allows me to really connect with the scene while I draw and especially for boats to make sure they are accrete and then being free to paint. My textile design background informs my use of colour and is a why I create up to 5 original editions of each scene as I see the scene in so many different colour palettes and proportions.
I create a few collections each year. Choosing the subject and scenes that inspire me and provide a sense of excitement from places I have spent time in and explored over the year.
